GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – April is a big month for Mesa County Libraries. It is National Poetry Month and anyone 18 and up can submit an original, unpublished poem to the library for a poetry contest. There will also be a Teen Mosaic Art Contest.
Poems will be judged by Luis Lopez who is a local poet and former Colorado Mesa University professor. Gift certificates to Downtown Grand Junction will be awarded to the top three winners of the poetry contest.
Create a mosaic for a temporary display in the soon-to-be expanded Mesa County Library. The theme for the Teen Art Contest is “Magnificent, Majestic, Marvelous, Memorable Mosaics”. Judges will give more consideration to the art that fits the theme. Entries are limited to two per teen and the art will be judged by members of the library staff. Participants in the contest must be between the ages of 12 and 18.
The deadline for the poetry is 6 p.m. on Apr. 20. The deadline for the art contest is Apr. 26 and winners will be announced on Apr. 30. All entries must be submitted online by clicking on the links below.
