GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Mesa County government employees are giving $26,500 to United Way's pacesetter campaign, while breaking their personal record for participation.
"I'd like to say thank you to all the employees in the Mesa County government for raising such a great amount of money and participating," said Amanda Crysler, development director for United Way of Mesa County.
Mesa County commissioners announced the fundraising results at Monday's meeting.
33 organizations are participating in the pacesetter this year, which asks employees to donate automatic payroll deductions to the campaign.
"It really sets the pace for the rest of the community and get everyone excited to get out there and start raising money," Crysler said.
The United Way of Mesa County's community fundraiser starts Sept 24 and Crysler said the goal is to raise $1.1 million.
