DE BEQUE, Colo. (KKCO) De Beque will soon be seeing a change to their fire station.
Responsible for about 800 square miles, the De Beque Fire Protection District has a lot of tools to help but not enough space to store them.
Fortunately, the district has purchased a piece of land right next to the interstate for a new station, and fire officials say they're doing everything they can to keep costs for residents down.
"We're looking for what we can debt service right now then we're going to be trying to go for grants," says Fire Chief Nick Marx. "Any avenue that we can find to try to raise the money."
Currently, the district houses several vehicles and other equipment at an off site location.
Officials hope that the new location will help speed up response times by eliminating the need to go somewhere else before heading to an emergency.
