GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The new home for The Salon Professional Academy in Grand Junction is creating a buzz, and bringing in new faces.
The Academy recently upgraded its facility and location, and is a home for students to train to work in a salon or spa over the course of 15 months.
Their recently-opened building is more than 8,000 square feet, offers haircuts, colors, manicures and many other services. The relocation was motivated by a need to be in the heart of the city, where there's more foot traffic.
"We're really excited about the increase in live people that they get to do haircuts and color, as opposed to just doing work on mannequins that don't have an opinion or talk back," says Angela Lema of The Salon Professional Academy.
Lema says the Academy is attended by students of all ages, from the minimum of 17-years-old all the way up to those in their 50s. She says the students are excited to be entering what she calls a 'recession-proof' career.
