GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. A brand new exhibit is opening up at the Museum of the West.
The Western Slope Heritage Rendezvous exhibit is a tour through the history of the Grand Valley and Western Colorado.
Thursday night the museum hosted a members only opening reception to kick off the opening.
Organizers say the exhibit is their way of fulfilling part of the museum's mission.
"A mission of the museum is to be able to tell the story of the community," says Executive Director of the Museum of Western Colorado Peter Booth. "The best history is something thats told with many voices and so what we've done is invited ten other cultural insititutions from throughout the westenr slope to help us tell the story."
The exhibit features pieces from across the Western Slope including several items from a Theodore Roosevelt saddle from Glenwood Springs to a giant swimming dinosaur's skull from Cedaredge.
It opens to the public on FebruarY 14th and closes in mid-May.
