GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Blame it on the Halloween candy, but October is National Dental Hygiene Awareness month.
Dentists say good oral hygiene can help prevent a number of problems beyond just cavities. Unhealthy mouths suffer from root canals, muscle pain and much more.
While your biannual checkups are important, what you do between visits is even more important.
"We can perform all kind of magic at the dentist office but really what does on at home is the most vital part of dental health," Colorado West Family Dental dentist D. Nadine Hutchins said.
Those vital steps at home are brushing twice daily for at least two minutes, flossing and using a mouthwash.
