GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Earlier this year park rangers drained much of Highline Lake in an effort to clean up sediment that's built up over the years. You would be surprised at what's turned up as the water level dropped.

It was a boat that was sunk by a former chief park ranger.

The sunken boat was used to provide sonar training for park rangers. Over time, and as staff changed, the exact location of the boat was forgotten.

Officials say now that they know exactly where it is, they'll once again use it for sonar training.

Rangers say that it’s fine to walk out and check out the boat, however, be aware that the land around it is very soft because of mud. Rangers say you will still want to be careful when you are out walking around.
