GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Robert and Diane Mathena spent time Monday morning at the cemetery visiting their grandsons, William and Tyler, after a pre-trial meeting at the Mesa County Justice Center.
"It's been a very hard year, we are anxious to get it over with so we can finally start mourning and moving on with our lives," says Robert Mathena.
As the one year anniversary of their deaths approaches, the Mathenas said they are looking for justice, which is exactly what the prosecution and defense are out to get.
Assistant District Attorney Rich Tuttle announced Monday morning the prosecution's case is ready for trial and it was agreed by both sides that 30 minutes will be set for opening statements when the trial begins on Monday, October 28th.
It was November 27th, 2012 when Heather Jensen left her sons in the car with the heat on while allegedly going to do drugs and have sex with a man. The cause of death for boys was hyperthermia.
Jensen is charged with child abuse resulting in death, criminally negligent homicide and false reporting to authorities.
