GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – A 100-acre park could breath new life into an area near the Colorado River, but the city wants to hear from you first.
On Wednesday, citizens offered their opinion on a revised master plan for the proposed Las Colonias Park. The proposed location is just to the east of the Botanical Gardens.
The park would include a cultural center, trails, an amphitheater and more. It’s a big change for the property that was once a mill tailings site. One resident says it's just what the area needs.
"This is a great project for the downtown area and the whole valley because it's so centrally located. It's a win-win for everybody,” says Loran Dake who has been a Grand Junction resident for the last 40 years.
If you were not able to make the meeting, the city still wants to hear from you. You can contact the City Parks and Rec. Department to share your thoughts.
