Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – One of the largest non-profit organizations on the Western Slope held an open house on Wednesday for clients and community members.

Strive-- formerly Mesa Developmental Services-- provides services and support to individuals with disabilities and their families.

The open house was held at three of their more popular locations: the retail store Uniquely Yours, the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens, and their headquarters on Grand Avenue. The idea is to inform the community about their services.

"We want people to know that we're a very active participant in our community, that we're helping people with disabilities have meaningful activities and work. They are becoming self-sufficient and more independent," says Marilee Langfitt, Vice President of public relations and development.

At both the botanical gardens and Uniquely Yours, people could participate in different activities such as making leather bookmarks.
