Pear Park Elementary briefly locked down

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Pear Park Elementary School was on lockdown for a short time this afternoon.

According to School District 51 spokesperson Christy McGee, a disturbance in the area around 12:20 p.m. caused officials to close the campus as a precaution, though there was never any danger to the school itself.

The lockdown lasted about 10 minutes as Mesa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the incident nearby.
