Pedestrian killed in Basalt

BASALT, Colo. A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car early Friday morning in Basalt.

The accident occurred just before 2:00 a.m. on Colorado 82 near milepost 21 in Basalt.

A 2003 Ford Ranger being driven by 52 year old Dawn A. Miller of Carbondale had been traveling eastbound in the right lane of Colorado 82. The pedestrian involved was standing in the right lane of eastbound Colorado 82 facing to the west.

The vehicle collided with the pedestrian in the right lane of Colorado 82, resulting in the pedestrian being thrown off the right side of the roadway. Mrs. Miller was bale to bring her vehicle to a controlled stop on the right shoulder of the road.

The pedestrian, whose identity is not being released pending notification of the family, died from injuries sustained from the crash.

Mrs. Miller was not injured in the crash, and authorities are still investigating.
