Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – The City of Fruita is making plans for downtown and considering zoning changes.
On Monday night, the city held an open meeting to get public feedback on changing downtown to a “mixed-use zone.” The re-zoning would change some areas downtown to general commercial zones.
Others would be changed from industrial to community residential zoning, matching up with the houses that are currently in that area.
“It think they are headed in the right direction. It looks like they have taken all the business people into consideration, and they have a pretty decent balance between the residential and commercial people, and they have graduated into different types of commercial businesses, which I think is going to be very compatible for the community," says Kenneth Dodgeion, a long-time Fruita resident.
Input from this open house will be given to the planning commission, which will then allow public comment before plans are given to council for approval.
