Bank building all clear after potential robbery attempt

The Grand Junction Police have released a description of the man involved.

They are looking for an adult white male, approximately 5’09” to 5’10” tall, weighing 230-250 pounds.

He walked into the First National Bank and demanded money before leaving the area in an unknown direction with an un-disclosed amount of cash.

Our crews are at the First National Bank of the Rockies on Horizon Drive where authorities believe there may have been an attempted bank robbery.

As of 3:00 p.m. police have reopened Horizon Drive after shutting down a portion of the road near the Safeway in order to set up a perimeter near the First National Bank of the Rockies.

According to officials with Mesa County Dispatch they believe an attempted robbery of the bank may have been in progress; however, as of now the building has been officially cleared.

As more information becomes available we will update this story.
