Witnesses speak on suspicious Delta death

The body was found last night at H 38 Road and Highway 50.

The man was found at this house, though police say it is not his residence.

DELTA, Colo. (KKCO) -- Few details are emerging in what officials are calling a suspicious death in Delta.

KKCO 11 News crews on scene have spoken with Delta Police as well as witnesses and family members of the victim.

Delta Police confirm there was a death Monday evening and say the victim was not shot. The Delta County Coroner is not releasing the name of the victim due to the criminal investigation surrounding the death.

Witnesses tell KKCO 11 News the victim was a man. His family says he was a father of two children.

Witness Bruce Truckey-- who called 911-- says the victim was riding his bike when three men chasing him caught him in a driveway.

The three men started beating the victim, all the while screaming, "You stole my pot!" according to the witness.

Truckey tells KKCO 11 News that there were marijuana plants all over the road where the incident happened.

He says he tried to break up the fight but was unable to.

No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been identified publicly.

Delta Police said in a release, "The Delta Police Department wants the public to know there is no community safety risk or concern, and this incident was not a shooting. Anyone with any information concerning this incident is encouraged to contact the Delta Police Department at 970-874-7676."

DELTA, Colo. (KKCO) – Police are investigating a suspicious death in Delta County.

According to the Delta Police chief, officers got the call around 8:12 p.m. Monday to the corner of H 38 Road and Highway 50.

When they arrived on scene, they found that a man had died in a suspicious way.

Police have identified the man, but they are not releasing his name until his next of kin has been notified.

The cause of death should be released later today by the Delta County Coroner’s Office.
