GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- The community came together tonight raising money for a good cause.
Hundreds in the valley will be camping out overnight at Long Family Memorial Park for Relay for Life.
Around 10:00 p.m. a "luminaria" or candlelight vigil, will be held around the track honoring those affected by cancer. And for some, the relay, is raising money for a good cause that hits close to home.
"After losing our father in 1994 to cancer, this is just our pay to paving the road to help other families that are going through the cancer and going through this horrible disease," said Theresa Ricks a cancer survivor and a chairman for Relay for Life.
Those who stay all night have an opportunity to win special prizes.
Seventy-five teams participated this year. The event concludes Saturday at 8:00 a.m. with closing ceremonies.
