GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - When tragedy strikes a community, the response is often to band together for strength and support.
Our nation's runners showed their support for the victims of the explosion at the Boston Marathon by running together on Tuesday. Athletes everywhere took to the streets, some choosing to wear old track jerseys, while others wore the marathon's colors blue and yellow.
They believe that their sport will be made stronger by the tragedy and that more people will begin running or continue running as a symbol of hope.
“I would go to do the Boston Marathon if I qualified," says District Attorney and Tr-athlete Dan Rubinstein. "I would go back to Boston to help out if I was able to. There’s nothing that would deter me or any other runner from going and doing this event”
