Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – A Toyota 4-Runner rolled into a backyard Monday afternoon after the vehicle went off the road and crashed through a fence.
It happened around 5 p.m. in Fruita near Maple Court and Sabil Drive.
An elderly driver says she accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.
"I had just stepped outside and this car, I could see it coming towards the stop sign of the street right here, and it didn't stop," says Wendy McCarthy, who was at the home at the time of the accident. "It just kept coming, and it came through the fence. I stepped off to my left and moved out of my way, and it drove through the house."
There were no injuries and minimal damage to the outside of the house. The elderly driver was given a citation for careless driving.
