SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (AP) Salt Lake City continues to position itself to make a bid for the 2026 Winter Olympics.
The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Utah officials contend the facilities built for the 2002 Salt Lake City games are in good shape and should draw attention of Olympic organizers.
The United States Olympic Committee has yet to decide whether it will nominate a U.S. city for the 2026 games. It's in the process of making its top choices for an American to bid on the 2024 summer games.
Utah officials acknowledge they could face long odds in winning the bid, but they're preparing anyway.
Fraser Bullock, former chief operating officer for the Salt Lake Olympic Committee, says the city has a cost-cutting advantage: It could simply update its facilities without having to start from scratch.
