GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Former Congressman Scott McInnis kicked off his campaign for Mesa County Commissioner for District 2 this weekend.
McInnis hosted a kickoff event this weekend at Pufferbelly Station Restaurant.
McInnis represented Mesa County in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1992-2004. He has formally filed candidate paperwork with the Colorado Secretary of State.
McInnis is seeking the Republican nomination for County Commissioner seat currently held by Steve Aquafresca. Aquafresca has reached his term limit and will not be able to run again.
There is one other opponent for the Republican nomination and a Democratic candidate for the general election has not been announced.
The primary election will be held on June 24, 2014, with the general election to take place on November 4, 2014.
