Sheriff stabbed by teen is released from hospital

MEEKER, Colo. (AP) Rio Blanco County Sheriff Si Woodruff is recovering at home after he was stabbed while trying to arrest a teenager in a hospital parking lot in Meeker.

Undersheriff Michael Joos said Saturday that Woodruff is expected to make a full recovery after he was stabbed in the abdomen while he was trying to break up a fight between the suspect and his father outside Pioneers Medical Center on Thursday.

Nineteen-year-old Logan Piper, of Meeker, is being held on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer and first-degree assault. His bail is set at $100,000.
