GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) Before we had cars, trains and planes, we had horses for transportation and today, the Sheriff's Posse reenacted a Pony Express Ride and it was all for a good cause.

As a part of pre-week Colorado Pro Rodeo activities, ten riders from the Sheriff's Posse rode from the Loma Sale Barn to the Sheriff's Posse Arena on 25 Road.

Once they arrived at the arena the non-profit presented HopeWest with a check for $800 dollars to benefit their ‘Healing with Horses’ program. The program is a therapy counseling group for children, using horses to help children cope with grief and loss.

Larry Maybon, a member of The Sheriff’s Posse, organized the event.

"Need for the program to help sponsor the kids- too help, just to help, makes you feel good inside," said Maybon.

This was the first time the Sheriff's Posse is helping out the ‘Healing with Horses’ program.
