MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- The constant freezing and unfreezing weather isn't just frustrating for farmers; it can be dangerous for drivers, too.

People heading up to the Grand Mesa experienced that Thursday morning as they swerved to avoid a small boulder that had fallen into the road near the Highway 65-exit of Interstate 70.

Bob Wilson with the Colorado Department of Transportation says there wasn't any road damage, and crews simply pushed it to the side of the road.

He says freeze-off tends to loosen some rocks on the hillside, which is why earlier this week, crews closed part of I-70 through DeBeque Canyon to do some rockslide mitigation.
