Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Colorado Parks and Wildlife is looking for 16 new volunteers to serve on a statewide sportsman's roundtable.

The roundtable meets twice a year as an advisory panel for Colorado Parks and Wildlife. They will give the agency feedback on issues like protecting fish, hunting and obtaining fishing licenses.

Officials at Colorado Parks and Wildlife say it's important to have this feedback and advice on the issues facing the state.

"We always ask for the public's input. We need the public's input. We want the public's input to help manage wildlife in a way that the public will understand and accept," said Parks and Wildlife spokesperson Mike Porras. "This is a way to formalize the process, and it allows people to get on this board and on this round table and provide direct access to us. They will provide direct recommendations and suggestions to us that we will listen to and take seriously and use that for our management strategies."

The deadline for applying for the sportsman's roundtable is Feb. 15. The group will hold its first meeting in late March. Each roundtable member will serve either a one- or two-year term.
