DENVER (AP) -- A storm system that's expected to linger through Wednesday is boosting Colorado's snowpack but also snarling traffic.
Rocky Mountain National Park reported 15 new inches of snow at Bear Lake on its east side Monday. The Loveland ski area reported 14.
Colorado's snowpack is now 77 percent of average, up from 69 percent a week ago.
However U.S. 40 over Berthoud Pass closed at midday because of the potential for avalanches. U.S. 6 over Loveland Pass also was closed. Eastbound I-70 was closed between Vail and Vail Pass after semitrailers got stuck. Westbound I-70 temporarily closed from Copper Mountain to Vail Pass following accidents.
Blowing snow temporarily closed Interstate 25 from Wellington to Cheyenne, Wyo., Monday morning.
