MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- Whether at home, school or playing around with friends, many Grand Valley elementary school students now know more about safety wherever they are.

The Mesa County Safety Council is hosting its annual safety fair at the Mesa Mall Thursday and Friday.

More than 2,000 second and fourth graders from School District 51 are expected to attend the two-day event, learning how to be safe in different situations.

Some of the safety booths and groups included local law enforcement, construction companies, Colorado Mesa University and the National Weather Service.

The event is also open to home school students.
