MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) -- The Palisade music teacher wanted for sex assault on a child has been booked into the Mesa County Jail, brought here from Garfield County where he was arrested last week.

James David Tiner, 59, used to teach music to children in Palisade. He is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting one of his 8-year-old students between Sept. 2009 and June 2010.

Tiner was believed to be in Arkansas, but after seeing media reports about the FBI search for him, residents in Garfield County provided tips to law enforcement that led to his arrest.

Tiner tried to elude New Castle police, but authorities arrested him after a short chase.

He's being held on a $150,000 bond, facing several counts of sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust and as a pattern of abuse.

He'll be formally charged in January.
