Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Book lovers wait all year long for One Book, One Mesa County, a program featuring a book selected by Mesa County Libraries.

This year's book "The Dog Stars" is a fictional story that takes place in a post-apocalyptic America. The main character takes refuge in eastern Colorado, making several trips in his 1956 Cessna with his dog Jasper.

To celebrate the book, the central library hosted a lecture Monday night, featuring local pilots who have flown the same plane that was used in the book.

Now in its ninth year, the program will be capped off on March 9 when award-winning author and journalist of "The Dog Stars", Peter Heller, comes to town to speak at the Avalon Theatre at 7 pm.

KKCO is a proud sponsor of the event.
