Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – They never talk about themselves they just listen, and around the Grand Valley man's best friend is bringing comfort to those who need it the most.

Sparky is a Hospice therapy dog and part of a program at Hospice to bring cheer to those who need it the most.

Sparky has gone through a training program to be a therapy dog. Now he and his owner Pattie Rich try to visit patients in the program at least once a week. Sparky is just one of a handful of therapy dogs that visit about twenty different patients in the Hospice program.

Sometimes the patients have play time with the dogs, other times they just hang out in silence enjoying each other's company. “Our patients really look forward to their visits. They look forward to spending that time with the animal but also being able to visit with the volunteers," says Jenny Cook, social worker with Hospice Palliative Care of Western Colorado.
