Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – The Grand Junction City Council was supposed to have a new member, but the six members of the current council had a tie vote and couldn't come to a decision.
Three council members voted for nominee Duncan McArthur and three wanted Les Miller to be the new member. With a deadlock and no one willing to budge, the council voted to start the entire process over.
"This five people may very well re-apply if they do their expectable we would take their applications if not there could be new people," said Mayor Sam Susuras.
There is a clock running on this process, a state provision requires the vacancy be filled within 60 days of the seat coming open, or it's given to the clerk for a city election.
That gives the current council a few more weeks, until the first part of August to come to a decision on what will happen with the District E seat.
