Two major drug busts for the Mesa County Sheriffs

MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) Mesa County Sheriffs made two major drug busts on interstate 70 this week.

In a big bust on the highway Wednesday, two people were arrested after being caught with 28 pounds of marijuana and methamphetamine.

Staci Garza from Texas and Bruce Reuter of Nevada, both 37 years old, were booked into the Mesa County jail after the bust.

Police say the street value of the drugs equal about $70,000.

Garza and Reuter are being charged with several drug related charges including possession of more than 12 ounces of pot. They are currently being held without bond.

In another drug bust, two men from Tennessee were stopped on I-70 this week and arrested for possession and distribution of meth.

Thomas Phoenix, 59, and Jessie Moody, 28, were booked into the Mesa County jail.

Police say they found nearly a half a pound of meth in their car, which carried a street value of about $13,000.
