GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- It was a scary sight as a utility pole lands in the middle of the road. Early this morning around 6:30 a.m. at 17 and Walnut, the Grand Junction Fire Department was called in by someone in the area that said they heard a pop.

Upon arriving to the scene, fire officials discovered a utility pole was lying in the middle of the road. They weren't sure if it had power attached to it or not and called utility companies to come out and check. Upon investigation, it was discovered the utility pole had cable and telephone lines on it and Excel Energy said the pole fell because the wood in the pole rotted away.

There were no injuries. The poles and wires are still laying in yards and driveways, but don't worry, they are not live electrical wires.
