Valentine's Day concert for vets

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – Valentine's Day is all about love, and no one has more love for our country than the veterans here in Mesa County. Thursday night those vets were treated to a free Valentine's Day concert.

The headliner at the packed Avalon Theatre was the Grass Roots.
The concert is part of the annual, week-long National Salute to Veteran Patients celebration.

The Vietnam vets said they can relate to the music.

"During the late 50s or 60s during Vietnam, we heard a lot of different types of music that was being played, and rock n' roll was the big band music or the music that we were getting,” said Bob Henderson, a Vietnam veteran.

The free concert was open to veterans and the public and was put together by the VA Medical Center.

The organizers say the purpose was to honor all veterans-- in particular Gold Star family members.
