FRUITA, Colo. Veterans from all branches of the military came out in force Monday afternoon to the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park.
Over the last decade, the Park and the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado have teamed up to present the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony in Fruita.
American flags waved in every direction, laughter and tears came from the crowd, and organizers say this year was especially powerful.
"It's going to mean something different for each and every one of them," says founder of the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park, Jim Doody. "But there's that camaraderie - the brotherhood, the sisterhood, of all of the different branches."
This year's ceremony was complete with a helicopter fly-over, live music, prayers and doves released to represent those who were lost.
