Veterans Day closures and freebies

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO)-- In observance of Veteran's day, a handful of state and local services will be closed Monday.

State driver's license offices, the Department of Public Health and Environment Records Office and the Division of Wildlife Service Centers will be closed Monday.

In addition, Grand Junction city offices will be closed Monday.

City trash and recycling pickup will be on a regular schedule. Metered spots downtown will be free, including the parking garage on Rood Avenue.

There is also no shortage of places to get a discounted or free meal, including Applebee's, Golden Corral, Olive Garden and Outback Steakhouse.

You have to be a veteran or active duty to be eligible for any deals.
