Wait for Colo. gun background check tops 100 hours

DENVER (AP) -- A spike in requests for background checks on firearms buyers in Colorado has overwhelmed the system that businesses use to track how long the checks will take.

The Colorado Bureau of Investigation's online wait-time clock for background checks tops out at 99 hours and 59 minutes. The Denver Post reports the wait is now more than 100 hours, leaving potential buyers to guess on exact wait times.

The checks once took minutes, but request for background checks spiked after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.

The lag comes with the Tanner Gun Show set to start this weekend.

The show's co-owner Ty Blount says the lag means dealers will either mail a gun to a customer or meet the customer again later once the background check has cleared.

Every time there is shooting (or Obama re-election) the gun manufacturers are laughing all the way to the bank. We call this self inflicted stupidity tax.

This sounds as if the Governor is infringing on our 2nd Amendment rights. Maybe we need to determine what infringement means and establish a base.

ALL THANKS to Governor HICK_UP_HOPPER. The Saturday AFTER the Shooting, C.B.I. received 1,000's of requests for Background Checks that they had NOT ANTISAPATED. So after calling in EXTRA Personnel to assist, THE GOVERNOR got wind of it, then notified C.B.I. to cut the Personal down to a VERY MINIMUM. All this to delay purchases of Weapons while some sort of NEW GUN CONTROL is being drafted and implemented. This information was provided by a reliable information source that can not be revealed. So don't kill the Messenger, after all, Hey~~What~~Do I Know? Except____When I Purchased a New Hand Gun on the 19th, the Background wasn't completed until the 22nd, (82hours). With ONLY 1 Agent performing checks, (at that time)and the amount of checks in Que, That was expected.
