West Nile Virus in the Grand Valley

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) – In 2012 Mesa County voters gave the ok for the Grand River Mosquito Control District to expand their work area from the Colorado River corridor to include most of the Grand Valley.

In a season when more mosquitoes are testing positive as West Nile Virus, carriers their work has become critical. So far there have been no human cases of West Nile Virus reported this year in Mesa County, but nine of the eighteen samples collected have tested positive for the virus.

Some of the symptoms of West Nile Virus include extreme fever and nausea .
About 80 out of 100 people won't even realize they have West Nile if they get infected.
