GRAND JUNCTION,Colo. On Sunday the motorcyclists from around the Grand Valley came out to ride for a cure in the 5th Annual Tracy Bain Ride for Life.

The ride raises money for the St. Mary’s Cancer Survivorship fund.

Tracy Bain is a local breast cancer survivor, and has now taken over running the ride, after the creator and close friend Nancy Carlson lost her own fight with cancer.

Bain said the ride has new meaning for her after losing her friend just a few months ago.

“I go for others who can't, so I just reach out to everybody and ask everybody to do something to help others to encourage them get through cancer," said Bain.

Last year the ride had more than 75 riders and raised more than $1,800 for cancer survivors, and this year Bain said they expect more than 100 riders.

Bain said she hopes to encourage everyone to help those with cancer find the courage to fight.

"I just want everyone to know that we as caregivers and as survivors have a purpose and that is to reach out and encourage those that are going through it," said Bain.
