After awhile, the birthdays might run together for some of us.

"If I lived to be another 100, id never forget," said birthday boy Ray Green.

But when Fruita resident Ray Green turned 100 years old yesterday, he was surrounded by family and friends and it was anything but ordinary.

"I didn't know what really was going on, I knew they had something planned, but I didn't know what," said Green.

And he was right.

"So with the balloons and the streamers and the signs, and all the fun things people donated," said Ray’s friend Judy White.

White is the owner of Ray's favorite restaurant and hosted a party for the man who's been her friend for more than a decade.

"He was born here, raised here, lived here, raised a family here, worked on the national monument before he went south for the government," said White.

Ray has made Judy's Family Restaurant somewhere that everybody knows his knows his name.

"Ray is a guy that will come in early in the morning, visit with the guys and have a little bite to eat and have his coffee," said White.

"We have his coffee on the table when he walks in the door and he sits with the customers and they all visit and he tells his stories about what he has done with his life and everyone enjoys it," said Ray’s friend Bobbie Stout.

Bobbie Stout waits on Ray and says he's special, but not just because of his age.

"Who ever he touches, he touches their heart," said Stout.

Ray says when his family and friends came together to celebrate the century mark, it was the most special day since his wedding day in 1938.

"Nobody had it better than I did; it has to be the most memorable because I’ve never been treated like this before,” said Green.

Ray says hitting 100 is like being famous for a day and even though he was the one getting presents, he gave me one of my own; A copy of a newspaper in Arkansas from 1912. In it, an article about when he and his wife had their first baby.
