Kids Fun Fest draws crowd

Grand Junction, Colo. (KKCO) --- Children got to spend their final summer days celebrating with food, fun and games at Kids Fun Fest Saturday.

Rocky Mountain PBS hosted the event for the eighth year.

Local organizations set up booths in Lincoln Park with activities for children.

"It’s been incredible this year," said Ryan Stringthellow of Rocky Mountain PBS. "We have bump and jumps. We have a bunch of entertainment, Curious George is here, Super why. I think we’ve had 1000 families already today."

Half of the booths at Kids Fun Fest represented local non-profits.

Stringthellow said this event is a way for Rocky Mountain PBS to give back to its younger viewers.

"For us, because 30% of our programming is kids programming, it's really great that the kids get to put a name to the face of PBS as well," he said.
