Local preschool recovers after fire

Grand Junction, Colo (KKCO) --- After We Kare A Lot Preschool was struck by lightening early Wednesday morning, employees have worked non-stop to get their students back in the classroom.

Connections Church has offered their building as a temporary location for the students while contractors and insurance agents continue to investigate the school.

Owner, Stephani Schwettman, said business will resume as usual on Monday and she is very appreciative of the support she has received from the community.

The damage to the school is nearly $60,000 and Schwettman said she is hoping for donations of toys and school supplies.

To help rebuild, Learning Works, located at 1938 N. 1st St. is donating 50% of what you spend to the daycare to help them rebuild. Spend $10.00 they'll donate $5.00 worth of product to the preschool.

Also, Discovery Toys is helping with donation efforts by giving all proceeds of toys bought to the preschool. There is also an option to buy and send toys directly to the school. Visit the website below to donate:
