Grand Junction, Colo (KKCO) --- After a bridge collapsed near Seattle, the safety of these structures is being questioned.
There are 400 bridges in Mesa County and the maintenance and construction are all overseen by officials at the Public Works office.
Every two years the bridges are inspected and notes are taken to rate their safety.
Public Works Director, Pete Baeir, said if the structures are a cause for concern, the proper posting measures will be taken and the issue will be addressed immediately.
Baeir encourages the public to report any damage they see in order to prevent an accident from occurring.
