GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) -- The Salvation Army honored several community members Tuesday afternoon for going "above and beyond" the call of duty.

The "Doing the Most Good luncheon" was held at the Colorado Army National Guard Armory on Riverside Parkway in Grand Junction.

More than 100 community members, businesses, donors and National Guardsmen came out to recognize those who make a difference in the community.

Our own Glen Mills was honored for his support of the Salvation Army's annual food drive. Along with your help, KKCO 11 News has collected half-a-million dollars worth of food the last four years.

"We thank our community for their generosity. I've never lived in a community that was more generous than the Grand Valley is, and we thank you for that," said Claudia Jackson with the Salvation Army.

The Salvation Army's annual food drive is one of several fundraisers the nonprofit holds every holiday season.

KKCO's food drive kicks off next month.
