GRAND JUNCTION, Colo (KKCO) It means he only has half a heart.
Jason's supporters held a silent auction and fundraiser for him at Ed Bozarth Chevrolet Saturday afternoon. Dozens of community members and individuals came out. Doctors nationwide can't help Jason, but a doctor in California has offered to help. Jason and his family will be traveling to Stanford California next month for the rare surgery.
"He's always been a happy little guy; he's always had a great personality; he's always just been overly happy for everything he's gone through; he's just doing really good, but you can really tell that he needs the surgery; he's getting to the point where he's getting tired, and not just quite as active as he used to be," says Anthony Gutierrez, Jason's dad.
The family is holding a charity car wash at Hooter's Sunday, August 26th from 11am to 2pm. All proceeds benefit Jason's Heart Journey.
