GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) -- After over one year of defending the country in Afghanistan, US Army Specialist Aaron Frick was reunited with his family.

Along with his parents and friends, the Colorado Patriot Guard Riders also joined the welcoming committee. Art Edwards is a member of the Riders group and said back in the 1960's when soldiers would arrive home, they would not be treated with respect. That's why they make an effort to attend every homecoming in the Grand Valley.

Frick said he was not expecting such a big group to be waiting for him, but was happy to see all the support.

He will be spending the next two weeks at home and then will transfer to a base camp in Washington.
