DENVER (AP) -- A man who was injured in the Aurora theater shooting last summer hopes to complete his cross-country bicycle trek in hopes of raising money for other victims.

The Denver Post reports Stephen Barton began his latest tour, called "Ride for Aurora," on Saturday morning with friend Ethan Rodriguez-Torrent.

Last year, Barton had ridden his bike 2,700 miles from Virginia Beach, Va., to Aurora when he went to the Aurora theater to see "The Dark Knight Rises." He was shot in the neck during the rampage that left 12 people dead.

Barton will attempt to ride the remaining 1,400 miles to San Francisco in the next three weeks, and every dollar earned through the trip will go to the Colorado Organization for Victim Assistance.
