Grand Junction, Colo. (AP) -- A defense attorney says statements
made by one of two Colorado State Patrol Troopers indicted in the
death of an unarmed Redlands man should be invalid. The Daily
Sentinel of Grand Junction reports that Denver attorney Harvey
Steinberg wants statements made by Cpl. Kirk Firko thrown out.
Steinberg made his argument filed in documents, filed earlier this
month in the death of Jason Kemp.

If he wasn't under arrest when he made the statements, the statements should stand....like anybody else's. Did the arresting cops do something against the State patrolman's rights? If not, they should be admissible.

He's being prosecuted right now, so he hasn't escaped it. If he successfully defends himself, or is successfully defended, nothing changes or should change. The beauty of our system is we are all innocent until proven guilty.
