CALIFORNIA (NBC)--Officials find a grim discovery in an apartment in Monterrey County, California...113 dead kittens.

In addition to the dead kittens, officials were able to rescue 51 adult cats that were sick and neglected.

The rescued cats were quickly taken to an animal shelter.

A property manager discovered the cats during a routine inspection.

Officials say the occupant of house has not been arrested or cited for animal cruelty.

However, an investigation is underway.
