Denver (AP) Lawmakers are trying to clamp down on foreclosure fraud in Colorado as the number of people losing their homes continues to soar.

The House Business Affairs and Labor Committee will take up a bill Monday that would allow property owners to negotiate the terms of a voluntary surrender of their property.

The bill would also expand the definition of criminal equity skimming to include collecting rent from a tenant after a house has been foreclosed on and sold.
