Suffolk, Va. (AP) Residents of a tornado-ravaged area of Virginia have gathered to return briefly to what's left of their homes.

Officials say residents will be given ten minutes at their homes -- and there is a list of condemned homes that they will not be allowed to enter.

One man says all he wants to do is “get in there and get the things that are important” to him.

They've been warned to be careful. State emergency management spokesman Bob Spieldenner says the clean-up from the storm could pose a greater danger than the actual storm. He says that after hurricane isabel in 2003, “more people were injured in the
cleanup” than the storm itself.

Virginia Governor Tim Kaine says it will be a day or two before state and local officials come up with a final damage estimate in Suffolk.
